Pune, Cochin declared Latest IPL Franchises

It might be surprised for many cricket lovers as many expected Kanpur and Ahmedabad to drive the seat for the bidding but it looks there is always some sort of surprise for all.

Pune and Kochi has found way to get into the New IPL Franchises list as Sahara Group successfully was highest bidder with around 370$ million that around 1700 Crore Rupees. The second highest bid was by Rendezvous Sports World Limited for Kochi at around 333.3$ Million that is at 1531 Crore. If one remembers couple of years ago, this team could have been available at just 100 Million USD.

At the press meeting in Chennai, Lalit Modi unveiled the latest two franchises which will take part in the IPL 4 Season. Sahara Group and Rendezvous Sports World Limited was the highest bidder. Total 5 Bids were submitted to the IPL commissioner for the auction.

Lalit Modi also told reporters that “It is highly unlikely that new teams will be added in the spots for at least in the near future.” Although he twisted that remark with comment “But no one can say about future as of now.”

If the current format of IPL is retained, the games will count to total 94 from the current 60. But there was no official word for this.
