India’s Chances for Semis in T20 World Cup
May 10, 2010 : Earlier we have written post on same topic but after India vs Australia and India vs West Indies and this post is after Australia vs Sri Lanka.
Clearly, with every match scenerio is changing and as of now India has better chance than what use to be seen before Australia vs Sri Lanka.
Below is statistical things to be done by India as well hope by its Fan.
- Australia has already entered in to Semis with NRR +3.250.
- In India v Sri Lanka match; if India manages to get 180 run, they should try to restrict Sri Lankans at 160 runs thus leading to 20 Runs victory. If this happens Sri Lanka’s run rate would be -0.73 and consequently India’s would be -0.72.
- If India is batting second, they must ensure that they win the match before 17.3 Overs.
- If batting first Sri Lanka is all out before 20 Overs, then India would also need to win even before 17.3 overs. Ex. If Sri Lanka is all out in 19th over. India would need to win the match in 16.3 overs.
- This fact is compulsory. Any compromise in this condition would mean India is out. One must be fully aware that difference in the margin would be as per score. If score is high or low, all statistics will change. Although, the above score mention is most ideal deal for India.
- Now, Australia beat West Indies by even 1 run. India gets into Semi Final.

India needs to get their strategy right. Play to our strengths. We have good clean hitters like Yuvi, Pathan , Dhoni and Raina. They can bat aggressivley while rest like Gambhir, Rohith sharma , Dinesh Karthik and Murali Vijay play an anchoring role.Once the paltform is set I think Indians are capable of tearing apart any bowling power in the world.

Indians can definitely get through. See how pakistan qualified. Everyone had written off Pakistan and now they beat a strong team like South Africa and advanced to the semis. If Inidans also come in semis it would be a great treat for cricket lovers. 4 top teams and bitter rivals like England, Australia, India and Pakistan coming face to face with each other. Lets pray India win comprehensively and qulaify for semis.

India have chances to get into the semifinals.But that is only possible if India beat Srilanka by a run margin of 20
runs.Australia should also win the game against the Westindies.These are the only ways in which india can get into the semifinals.
All the above equations only possible if DHONI drops VIJAY and JADEJA out of the team and open with YUSUF and gambhir
